New endorsement June 2010. Rehab success, and more...

Hi, I just wanted to say how good your lunging and riding aid are. I have tried all sorts of 'gadgets' - side reins, draw reins, pessoa's and the variations of it, chambon, de gouge anything you can possibly think off and our tack room is littered with them all. I saw your lunge aid advertised in a few of the horse magazines and read reviews and visited your website and finally decided to purchase the combi aid (lunge and ridden aid pack). It has sat in the tack room since before Christmas as I was very sceptical and confess I kept hold of the old gadgets that whilst did something did not give me the desired results just incase I was disappointed again but … WOW! I don't know why I didn't use it earlier!
Me and my husband have 4 horses ranging from 3 years to 22 year old and from 15hh to 16.3 and after they had a few sessions they all got the idea and what a difference. All of them have very different issues from beginning their education, heavy in the hands and leaning on the forehand, very light in the hands but struggling to relax and work forwards. We have seen a huge difference in them all after only using it for a week!
We have now been brave enough to ditch the gadgets and will not use anything else again. It does exactly what it says on the tin! We now have horses that are happy in their work and are building top line and muscle, more balanced and are working very well under saddle.
Thank you. Charlotte

We have used the Equiami (lungeing aid) already, borrowed from a friend, and had so much success with our 2 horses we had to buy one for ourselves.
20.12.09
My event horse is going beautifully on his EquiAmi. Physio came out on Wednesday and was amazed at the amount of muscle he has put on his top line since she saw him last. He is also incredibly flexible along his
whole spine which is great as he has kissing spines. I think the EquiAmi has been a huge success!!
Sarah J.
I just thought I would feedback to you regarding the EquiAmi.
Rehab success:
I felt I had to let you know how your wonderful lungeing aid has really helped bring my wonky old boy along to something resembling a normal horse rather than a camel!
I know everyone considers their horse as special - but Leo really is a case and a half, here's why:
He used to be a fairly successful harness racer, a pacer at that (with a lateral trot rather than diagonal) until an accident on track put an end to his career. I still have no detail about what happened, but it resulted in him being sold for meat, when someone took pity on his handsome features and bought him.
Unfortunately they hoped to retrain him into a winning show jumper, but hadn't reckoned with his injury - having bought him on looks alone. So when the huge scars on his back legs and his rather wonky way of going came to light, she then abandoned him in the middle of winter last year. Luckily he was on livery at a stable that also runs a small rescue centre, but with his routine gone he was very nervous, hard to catch to feed and rug up - but even then she had left no winter rugs for him! Added to the fact that the yard had recently suffered a devastating fire that had destroyed three stables and a barn with most of the spare tack/rugs etc (though luckily with no lives lost) things were pretty tough all round.
I had just started to help out there and was asked if I could try to catch him and bring him in so we could get a good look at his condition - a minute and a polo later and out I come with Leo mooching along behind me - we stuck with each other from then on. After a lot of legal wrangling to get him signed over by his absentee owner, Leo was mine and came to join me at Uni where I am part way through studying an Equine Management degree.
As he gained condition I started gently exercising him, this progressed to riding him on short walks: I couldn't do much ground work in-hand as I'm disabled with a weak & nerve-damaged left knee so need a stick/brace or crutches to walk. Everyone joked that the two of use limped to the same side! But it soon became evident that far from being unsound - he was simply 'mechanically compromised' and so the long process of retraining him began.
7 months on and he's learned to trot diagonally, canter, manages poles and small jumps with ease, his hindquarters have evened out and his muscle balance is now almost equal. Regular sessions with a local wizard of both McTimoney and Equine Touch have helped, along with work on a water treadmill and a gradual exercise programme. In the last month, after hearing about the EquiAmi from Kathryn Nankervis whilst at the British Dressage Sports Science Seminar at Hartpury this year, it too has been added to his regime - and the results have been fantastic.
His normally very high head carriage was beginning to come down, but it was sporadic and never really maintained for long. The EquiAmi has helped enormously - though he did have to learn to lunge first as he'd never done that until 5 weeks ago! He'll now maintain a much more consistent self-carriage that looks more like a normal horse and far less like a camel with its ears up your nose! His musculature is defining itself quite nicely and has really built on the treadmill work.
All in all he's nothing like the horse he was early last year - and all for the better.
He's yet to transfer his lunge work to being under the saddle completely - but the signs are there and he's getting better all the time. It won't be long before he'll be ready for me to buy the riding aid as well to continue to help him progress. Just to give you an idea of how well he's done in such a short time, here are a couple of links of his first session and then again after 3 weeks.

So again, thank you for coming up with such a wonderful aid. There is nothing to fight against, restrain or force - just gentle encouragement that is just what I was looking for and Leo needs
I've no problems with you using anything I've sent to help promote the aids. Having something that is so harmonious to the horse’s natural biomechanics, whilst also providing real results, is something worth shouting about.
To fill in a few gaps about Leo - he's a Standardbred and 14 now; he'd raced from a 2 year old for about 10 more years - so to break the cycle of slack stomach, tense and hollowed back and high head carriage that is a mark of a pacer was somewhat of a challenge. As far as I know he'd never really been ridden much before either.
You may have noticed, in the first video he's actually using his regular bridle, which is a Dr Cook's cross-under bitless bridle. I worked to the theory that for all his life, a bit in his mouth meant racing and the associated gait and body position, in trying to break him out of that I went with something he would have never been used in and would have no pre-conceived ideas on how he should react. It has paid off as he is still ridden in the bitless, though occasional sessions were tried with a bit again, he'd almost immediately revert to type. After a couple of sessions with the EquiAmi in his Dr Cooks, I tried him in a Happy Mouth snaffle and he had no adverse reaction to it at all. So this has also been the first step to slowly reintroducing him to a bit - and as you saw by the latest video he's fairly happy with it on the lunge. Part of the reason for the change was that with a cavesson, it does interfere with the action of the bitless bridle slightly, similar to using a bit and simply looping the lunge line through the rings and over the poll. If I can engineer a method of lungeing with both the EquiAmi and the Dr Cooks that will not alter the action of the bridle I'll let you know.
The accident left him with a twisted pelvis (which is almost sorted now), but most significantly with severed annular ligaments to his hear hind, resulting in a significantly slack extensor tendon (so slack you can grab it though the skin and wiggle it about above the cannon bone!). This gives him the habit of dragging his near hind toe and using a kind of 'hitch and swing' motion with that leg. The supposedly 'good' one he then drags right under himself to support the (formerly) weaker one. His muscle development is now even and so most of the current gait work is focused in getting him to work that little bit harder to pick up the near hind as normal and re-balance himself back to a more even sequence of footfalls.
His used to be incredibly fast in all gaits, walk, trot, pace and canter, but this legs generally went everywhere like some kind of epileptic camel and though he could manage straight lines, he lost it completely at a corner. We would go out on hacks and whilst a friend's horse (the same size as Leo at 17 1hh) would be comfortably cantering - Leo would be keeping up with an effortless pacing trot! ;-) Significant work has slowed him down, but only really since using the EquiAmi has he really started to become centrally balanced enough to begin to develop his own rhythm.
I'll definitely keep you updated on his progress. KL
Another lovely endorsement from another very happy customer:-
I just wanted to drop you a line to say how wonderful I think your product is.
I have just started lungeing Sky who has just turned 3 in preparation to starting him at the end of the summer. From the start I have used your product and the transformation is amazing. He really does not look like the same pony. We are just at the start and I know there are more improvements to come.
I showed Sky and last year we were achieving 5th and 6th place. The last 2 shows we have been to we have been placed 2nd and 3rd and I know he will just keep getting better.
So thanks for your great invention. I have told all my friends who are trialling mine so I hope you get a few more sales from it.
Regards Terri
A new endorsement; June 2009
One thing I forgot to mention is that when I ask Tetely to canter left, the transition always begins with a buck! This is not pain related as I have his back checked regulary this is because he genuinely finds left canter very difficult. However, last night when I lunged him in the EquiAmi it was the first time he did not buck prior to the transition. Another improvement! Can't wait for my lesson now on monday to see how much more the ridden work will improve.
Thanks, Cathy

Bitless bridle & EquiAmi
15th December 2008
Liz from Ireland wanted to try the EquiAmi lungeing aid with a bitless bridle. We had no experience of this type of use so we asked her to let us know how she got on so we could inform others. She recentley emailed us with this:
Hi just thought I should write and let you know that Jack my lovely Dales is coming along great in the EquiAmi. A bit of top line starting to build which is great. I just do the 20 mins twice a week. I use a Nutural Bitless Bridle with Jack and was initially using the cavesson noseband over it but now just use my Nurtural Bitless Bridle with my EquiAmi and he shapes up lovely.
So if you get any queries about using your equipment with a Bitless Bridle it works great with mine.
Keep up the good work. Thanks again from me and Jack.

Hi,
I bought the EquiAmi from you ages ago.. Years even!! I just wanted to say I LOVE IT. I've ridden lots of different types of
horses in it, from elementary dressage horses to little TB youngsters. I have rehabed a number of little horses and this is a great and sympathetic aid to encourage balance and cordination in the horse. I am not a gadget fan but this is very very useful to explain balance and relaxation to horses. Very glad I bought it.
All best wishes,
Louise M (BHS qualified instructor) from NI
I would just like to say a massive THANK YOU to you all at EquiAmi for inventing this excellent product and marketing it.
I have owed my cob x TB for the last year and he has only ever done hacking before and some times in a stupid strong bit a little bit of schooling. When I bought him he had been forced in to an outline and was very U necked. After trying a lot of other exercises and equipment I was not getting anywhere. Until my friend bought your EquiAmi lungeing set from you at YOUR HORSE LIVE. I have been lungeing him in it for 2 – 3 times a week. Although he is not perfect yet and his ridden work is a little green still you can see a massive improvement. His neck has started to form and his impulsion from behind is 10 times better. Still a little work to do in canter, mainly because he is a lazy cob but we are getting there.
My friend who bought your product is equally impressed she was in the same boat as me. Her horse has come on loads and his ridden work is totally amazing.
Wow! Your Horse Live was great
5th September 2008
Thanks to those who came to see us at our tradestand at Your Horse Live, we had lots of great feedback from old customers and met and talked to lots of new ones. We look forward to some feedback and pictures in the near future and would like to wish you all happy lungeing. Best wishes, Hilary.

Liz from Ireland emailed us with this:
Hi just thought I would e-mail you to say thanks. Received my EquiAmi yesterday and watched the DVD. I have a four year old Dales Pony Jack. It was so easy to put it together. I am not a lunging person at all, because of side reins etc and the pressure I feel horses are put under, even for a short time. So when I saw EquiAmi advertised and saw how it worked, it made sense to me, and it seems, to Jack.
I couldn't believe how easily he took to it, ears forward, didn't even have to lift my schooling stick, off he went. Used it for about 5 minutes on each side after I had warmed him up and he went great, lovely shape.
I also bought the (riding) training aid and am looking forward to using it. Once again thanks. Liz
Sharon from Merseyside bought The EquiAmi lungeing aid after reading about it on the
British Dressage Members' Forum; this is what she said:
I just wanted to say thank you for sending the EquiAmi I received it very promptly. The reason I am emailing is because I have been very worried about using the EquiAmi on my youngster as I explained before he is usually aggressive rearing, turning in and trying to kick me on the lunge. I AM SO AMAZED I plucked up the courage this morning and put the EquAmi on him with being 5 year old I WAS SO AMAZED he was not bothered at all with the EquAmi around the back of his quarters. I then proceeded to walk around the yard to make sure he was happy, he was fine so I took him in the indoor and to my amazement he set off in trot on the left for a good 5 min, I brought him back to walk all fine. I then sent him away on the right with some lovely steps he does have amazing movement and he seemed to take to the EquiAmi straight away. By accident he popped into canter his back lovely, relaxed and no resistance one bit. We finished after about 10 minutes as I was pleased with him thankyou so much I still cannot believe as for the last six months it has been utter stress to lunge him and he was not happy with the lunge work. I will let you know our progress in the next few months and the improvement . Once again thankyou.
ENDORSEMENT UPDATE 11.08.08
...an update on me Sharon and William we have now been
working with the EquiAmi for four weeks and we have
had real improvements. We now have the elastic feel
which is fab and we got it in the arena competing and
won on 70% fantastic thankyou.

Endorsement from USA
26th June 2008
Angela Guy from Houston, Texas had her EquiAmi lungeing aid to use on an ex-racehorse some months ago. This is what she wrote:
“My new horse was very upside down in his muscling, with huge underside neck and withered muscles from always going around with his head and neck up like a giraffe on crack! :-) I thought I would share my thoughts on your great product! Firstly, it is so easy to use! Secondly, I am pleased with the quality construction, without the unnecessary hardware! I use to have one of the other more expensive American lunging "rigs", and promptly E-bayed it after using the EquiAmi just a few times!
As per instructions, I only lunge General in his EquiAmi 2 - 3 times a week for no more than twenty minutes at a time. I'll send more photos as her progresses! The EquiAmi has been a great help in General's proper training, and I will continue to use it! Thanks”!!!
Extra large now in stock
23rd May 2008
We now have extra large sizes available on the lungeing aids and Combis. These fit horses up to about 18.2 hands or very wide horses.
Endorsement from Barry Adams
27th April 2008
Equine physiotherapist Barry Adams came to our premises for a demonstration and bought a Combi to use as part of his work in the treatment and ongoing care of competition horses. Barry's clients include top international dressage riders as well as a wide range of riders from all disciplines. Barry has given us the following endorsement:
Barry is based at Bishop's Castle in South Shropshire and travels extensively.
Endorsement from Sue Brennan
27th April 2008
Sue Brennan, Accredited British Dressage Trainer based in the West midlands purchased a Combi in 2007 after seeing our products at a trade stand and then having a demonstration at her premises. She has recently given us this endorsement:
Pony sizes &Miniature
17th March 2008
Hi everyone, you will be pleased to hear that the pony sized training aids are now available. We now offer the Combi and Riding aids in both Full and Pony sizes and the Lungeing aid comes in Full, Pony and Miniature sizes for those of you who show these small breeds and want to encourage them to move in a fabulous outline. We were asked to produce these to help tiny ponies move in a nice outline for showing. We will see how they go, but it should be interesting and fun.
Unfortunately we have to increase our prices for the first time in two years. This is unavoidable and due to the huge increase in the world price of brass (and all metals) as it is being bought up by industries in Asia and the Far East.
The pony sizes will fit approx 11 to 14 hands. A 14 hand pony that is chunky or has a big front may be better with a full sized one as the full sized ones now adjust from 13 hands up to 17.2 approx (these depend on the width of the pony or horse). The miniature size is for 28 inches up to about 11 hands.
Endorsement from Hartpury
10th January 2008
It was very exciting to receive an endorsement from Hartpury as the staff there are highly trained, knowledgeable and were a bit sceptical at first, but agreed to try a prototype for a while.
Kathryn Nankervis MSc CVPM, of Hartpury Equine Veterinary and Therapy Centre in Gloucestershire says:
“We have found the Equiami to be a very useful training aid, particularly for younger or less well educated horses where we are trying to encourage a lower head carriage.
It works well for horses which have ewe necks and/or an extended posture and we have had great results when using it in horses recovering from back surgery”.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alyson, who purchased a combi at Your Horse Live emailed us in Jan 2008 with this:
Gillian purchased a lungeing aid on-line and has emailed us with this:-
Great device! Loving it! Really simple to use and adjust.Taught my daughter how to use it last night ( shes 17) and her ID absolutely loves it! He is even doing collected walk/canter transitions! Really easy to adjust and they really cant lean on it, and the bum is right underneath them! Ive never got on with side reins etc, as they always seem too resticting, and you seem to have to continually adjust them - but this is super.

3 Wishes Granted to Lottie Prentice
17th December 2007
| When Lottie Prentice, the British 3 Day Event rider from Syde Park near Cheltenham, was asked to try out the EquiAmi training aid on behalf of Horse magazine for a tried and tested report, she said "I really have three wishes; I want to improve my horses’ performance; save time working the horses and make life easier; if any new aid can fulfil these I will be amazed". | ![]() |
Well it happened that after several weeks using the EquiAmi lungeing aid her three wishes were granted, her horses were working better; there was improvement in their paces and outline. Lottie saved time as the aid was very easy to fit and each horse required less lungeing work as the EquiAmi lungeing aid gave them a good physical workout in a relatively short time. Life was easier giving more time for Lottie to ride out and teach. Lottie contacted EquiAmi and offered to endorse the product and help in any way she could. |
| Lottie said "this simple lunging device works as a training aid to enable the horse to work in the correct outline without being restricted. It is a time saving device that will work all the necessary muscles and it is definitely an aid that you can trust with whoever is lungeing the horse. You will know that your horse has worked properly and used himself fully. It is accompanied by a short DVD explaining simply how to fit the aid and once you have used it once it will become a must-have in every busy yard". |
